Audience Research
for my audience research i have decided to split my research into two different phases and then use everything i have learned to develop an audience profile. the first phase i used was an online survey using the surveymonkey platform, and the second phase will be a focus group. i will record the focus group through and instrcut that they debate and come to a decision as a group and this way i will be able to discover what aspects really are important and which are not.
Online Survey
for the survey, i asked 10 pretty straight forward questions about both thriller flms in genral and short films. i chose to do it in this way because from doing the short film form rearch, i could see that short films werent that popular and not everyone is going to have outstanding knowledge of short film. by doing it this way i get to find out from audience memebers whats really important to them in terms of genre and short film as a whole, when i incorporate this into my auidence profile, it will be easier to bring everything together in order to create the profile.
the results from the online surevy are on the link below
survey monkey creates individual graphs for each question set out with set answers to choose from, which can be seen bellow. the open answer questions are summaries/abrieviations of respondants answers and key points i felt were important to consider.
Focus group response

with question five, i designed this question to have alook at individyual thrillers films to try and work out what some of them had in common or what they didnt have in common and try and use this in my short film. i didnt make it specific to short thrillers as i knew this wouldnt be as popular and i would getr more responses this way.
With question 6, the majority of respondandts said that suspense and tensionmake good thriller films, some of the more insightful answers included deeper meaning to things and effective use of music. these are things i will need to condsiderwhen creating my short film.

with question 10, the general outocmes were usually along the lines of them being short concice, and meaningful. other insightful answers included something that makes you feel like it should have continued and something that has a relctive message
